Produced in relatively small numbers from 1957 until 1960, the Leica model Ig is much like the IIIg, but without a rangefinder or viewfinder. This camera was primarily intended for scientific use or with the Visoflex system. The top plate of the Ig has dual accessory shoes for holding separate rangefinder and viewfinder accessories. In addition to lacking a finder, the Ig also omits the self-timer. Other features are consistent with the IIIg though. The Ig has a rubberized cloth focal plane shutter controlled by separate high and low speed shutter dials, with the latter located on the face of the camera. Shutter speeds range from 1/1000 to 1s, with a T (Time) mode for long exposures. It is worth noting that some models of the Ig were produced without the slow speed dial. The camera accepts the M39 thread mount, just as the IIIg.
